Arsenal’ready to trigger £50m transfer release clause’ to sign the LaLiga star who vehemently rejected them

Speculation suggests that Arsenal may activate Martin Zubimendi’s £50 million release clause.

Last summer, the 24-year-old Zubimendi declined an offer from the Gunners.

Zubimendi has been linked to a £50 million transfer to Arsenal and has impressed at his boyhood club, Real Sociedad, this season.

Mikel Arteta remains interested in the Spaniard, and reports indicate that the north London club is undeterred by previous rejections.

According to Spanish outlet Sport, Arsenal plans to make another bid for the Real Sociedad player this month.

Zubimendi joined the club at age 12 and has been a part of it ever since.

He has often been tipped for a move to a major club, making it unlikely he will stay with Sociedad for too long.

Although Zubimendi has many admirers, it is improbable he will see out his current contract, which expires in 2027.

Barcelona is expected to compete with Arsenal for any potential deals.

Thus, whichever club activates the clause first could secure his signature.

However, given Arsenal’s need for offensive reinforcements, they might postpone signing a new midfielder until the summer.

As reported by SunSport, Arsenal was priced out of a move for Brentford’s Ivan Toney and instead made a £22 million bid for Getafe striker Borja Mayoral.

Getafe, however, has pulled back their initial offer, seeking over £39 million for their star forward.

Arsenal is also looking to recruit Ajax’s 17-year-old ‘prodigy.’

Arsenal are plotting a move for Ajax defender Jorrel Hato

The teenager has already captained the Dutch giants twice this season.

Arsenal is targeting Ajax defender Jorrel Hato, as Mikel Arteta aims to enhance his defensive options.

Due to a knee injury, summer signing Jurrien Timber is expected to be sidelined until at least April.

Meanwhile, Takehiro Tomiyasu is competing in the Asian Cup, and Alexander Zinchenko is out due to injury.

The Telegraph reports that the Gunners have identified Hato as a potential target.

They are attracted to the teenager’s versatility, as he can play left back but primarily features in center defense.

The report also mentions that a summer transfer for Hato is being considered as an alternative to a January move.

Despite Ajax’s disappointing season, Hato has delivered outstanding performances for the 36-time Dutch champions.

Before turning eighteen, he made forty appearances for the first team and has worn the captain’s armband several times this season.

In November, he also received his senior international debut from Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman.

Brentford’s Ivan Toney remains closely linked to Arsenal among other clubs.

Arteta has identified the forward as his top target in the search for a new striker.

Brentford manager Thomas Frank remains committed to keeping their player this month.
