Following Chido Obi-Martin’s performance in Sunday’s FA Cup fifth-round match against Fulham at Old Trafford, Manchester United supporters voiced their unambiguous opinions on him.
Over the weekend, the Red Devils’ FA Cup title defense ended, and Ruben Amorim’s team was eliminated from the competition on penalties.
United’s penalties were scored by Bruno Fernandes, Diogo Dalot, and Casemiro; however, Joshua Zirkzee and Victor Lindelof were both disallowed.
Amorim’s final opportunity to win a trophy now depends on the Europa League campaign, as Fulham has already punched their ticket to the FA Cup quarterfinals.
Man Utd supporters’ reactions to Fulham vs. Chido Obi
In the fifth round of the FA Cup match, Chido Obi-Martin replaced struggling Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund in the 68th minute after coming off the bench.
After leaving Premier League rivals Arsenal, the 17-year-old United star moved to Old Trafford in September of last year. Chido Obi is predicted to have a successful career.
Following Ruben Amorim’s transfer from Sporting CP last November, Chido Obi joined the United youth academy and has since made his debut in the first team.
Chido Obi only missed the opportunity to put his name in the stars, but the United attacker was active in the frontline and earned crucial minutes against Fulham.
Chido Obi was commended by United supporters on social media site X, formerly known as Twitter, for “doing a lot more” than Rasmus Hojlund while he was on the field.
Red Devils fans “believe” in Chido Obi’s potential at Old Trafford despite the fact that he has demonstrated that he is still “super raw” and needs more time.
“Chido, who is only 17 years old, is raw and will lose out on opportunities to launch his career.” However, he has provided so much more than Rasmus,” an admirer remarked.
“Chido is obviously not prepared for regular first-team [foot]ball, but he’s putting the ‘Hojlund doesn’t get chances’ excuse to rest,” a second person added.
Another person said, “Chido Obi is doing a lot more than what Hojlund has been doing all season long.”
“Small sample [is] size, and he’s super raw, but fโโ hell I believe in Chido Obi,” another person remarked.
โWhat Chido did since he came on is a proper striker performance, which somehow Hojlund lacks soooo bad,โ tweeted a fifth X user.
“I never want to hear a fโโ word about service again,” someone else wrote. Hojlund never provides anything, yet at the age of 17, Chido Obi has created [three] respectable opportunities for himself.
Someone else asserted that Chido is superior to Hojlund because he generates opportunities for himself.
An eighth merely stated: “Chido Obi must start before Hojlund,” displaying a lot of promise.
