West Ham United made a surprise bid for Real Madrid striker Endrick during the January transfer window. A Spanish article explained why the highly regarded young player chose to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu rather than move to London Stadium.
In recent years, Madrid has acquired some excellent Brazilian football players. Rodrygo has become one of Carlo Ancelotti’s most important players, and the Saudi Pro League made a world-record bid for him last month, while Vinicius Junior is becoming a worldwide superstar.
Endrick is another Brazilian talent that Madrid is really interested in. The young striker was only 16 when Los Blancos activated his £52 million release clause in 2022, hoping to bring him to the Bernabeu when he turned 18, because they believe he will become a superstar in the future.
Since joining Ancelotti’s first team in the summer of 2024, Endrick has appeared in 21 games across all competitions this season, tallying four goals and dishing out one assist.
Despite playing 13 times for Brazil, the 18-year-old striker has not started in La Liga and has only made one appearance in Madrid’s starting lineup in the Champions League.
Marca claims that West Ham made an offer for the teenager after observing Endrick’s lack of starts with the Madrid first team and their desire to acquire a striker during the January transfer window.
Endrick’s group was approached by West Ham, who discussed a possible loan agreement for the remainder of the season.
The striker for Brazil responded forcefully, declining the opportunity to play the remainder of the season at London Stadium.
According to Marca, Endrick believes he will have more opportunities in the upcoming weeks and months and is aware that this season will be a learning experience for him.
