Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel was recently spotted reuniting with several key members of the club’s 2021 UEFA Champions League-winning squad at a private party.
Images shared on social media by Jorginho’s wife, Catherine Harding, captured Tuchel in high spirits alongside Jorginho, Reece James, Mason Mount, Trevoh Chalobah, and Ben Chilwell. This reunion sparked excitement among Chelsea fans, highlighting the strong bond between Tuchel and his former players despite his departure from the club in September 2022.
The 2020-21 season under Tuchel was one of Chelsea’s most memorable. He arrived at Stamford Bridge in January 2021, replacing Frank Lampard, and quickly transformed the team. Within just four months, Tuchel guided Chelsea to Champions League glory, defeating Manchester City 1-0 in the final on May 29, 2021, in Porto. The winning goal came from fellow German Kai Havertz, assisted by Mount.
In addition to their Champions League success, Chelsea also triumphed in the UEFA Super Cup, winning on penalties against Villarreal, and claimed their first-ever Club World Cup title by beating Palmeiras 2-1 in the final, with goals from Romelu Lukaku and Havertz. Tuchel’s team was noted for its defensive solidity, with players like James, Chilwell, and Jorginho playing pivotal roles in their success.
Fans expressed their nostalgia and longing for the team’s reunion on social media. Comments included sentiments like “I just want my boys back together” and specific calls for Mount’s return, with one supporter saying, “What I would do to have Mason Mount back at the club.”
Tuchel has recently been appointed as the new manager of the England national football team, signing an 18-month contract worth around £6 million per year. He succeeds Gareth Southgate, becoming England’s third foreign manager after Sven-Goran Eriksson and Fabio Capello.
Currently, Chelsea is seeing several of its former stars manage their fitness. James has returned to full fitness after a hamstring injury, while Chalobah is back at Chelsea following a loan to Crystal Palace, though he is dealing with back issues. Chilwell is on loan at Crystal Palace, and Mount, who joined Manchester United, has been sidelined since December due to a thigh injury.
