Joshua Kimmich is reportedly considering a surprising move to Arsenal as uncertainty surrounds his future at Bayern Munich.
The Germany international’s position with the Bundesliga giants has been in doubt for several months, with speculation mounting about his potential departure from the Allianz Arena.
Bayern attempted to offload the versatile midfielder to Newcastle last summer in a deal involving defender Kieran Trippier, submitting three bids in the process. They are keen to sell Kimmich this summer to avoid losing him on a free transfer next year.
Arsenal is said to be among five teams interested in acquiring Kimmich, who is reportedly open to the idea of moving to the Emirates. According to Sky Sports Germany, Kimmich is not ruling out a transfer and is willing to engage in discussions with potential suitors.
Kimmich was recently involved in a heated exchange with Thomas Tuchel’s assistant, Zsolt Low, following Bayern’s defeat to league leaders Bayer Leverkusen last month. Reports indicate that teammates had to intervene to separate them after Low shouted at Kimmich.
However, Tuchel downplayed the incident, stating, “I know what was going on. This is not for the public. We are in a football locker room. It’s a pretty normal occurrence if kept within limits. And it stayed within limits.”
Bayern Munich currently finds themselves ten points behind Bundesliga table-toppers Bayer Leverkusen, enduring a challenging season despite their impressive £82 million summer signing of Harry Kane.
The defending Bundesliga champions face a tough path in the Champions League as well, with a quarter-final matchup against Arsenal and a potential semi-final encounter with either Manchester City or Real Madrid looming on the horizon.
