Nikola Jokić is enjoying time off the court with Luka Dončić, likely his best friend and a fellow basketball player not based in Denver. On Instagram, American real estate agent Darko Draković shared a photo of Jokić taking a “selfie,” with Dončić, Slovenian Vlatko Čančar, Jokić’s wife Natalija, and his brother Nemanja in the background.

The Jokic family honors St. Nicholas, as indicated by the portrait and icon displayed at Nikola’s home on the table. Given that Dončić is playing against Cleveland in Dallas on Wednesday and Thursday, and was in Arizona Tuesday morning, where he defeated Phoenix, it’s likely this photo was taken last week, when Denver beat Dallas 130-103 at home. Someone was enjoying wine, and there was food available. Such gatherings are common among the two top basketball players from the former Yugoslavia.

Jokić mentioned celebrating St. Nicholas Day this year at the home of Darko Rajaković, Toronto’s Serbian coach. “We were at his house,” Nikola said, according to American media. Nikola and Luka clearly enjoy each other’s company outside of basketball while performing exceptionally well on the court. Interestingly, they often arrive at their games together.

Although their paths didn’t cross in Europe, with Nikola (28) arriving in America three years before Luka (24), it’s evident that during their time in the U.S., they have forged a strong bond that they showcase both on and off the court.
