After missing three months due to injury, Manchester United star Mason Mount has resumed training.
Due to a hamstring rupture, the 26-year-old midfielder hasn’t played since the team’s 2-1 derby victory over Manchester City on December 15.
The second leg of Manchester United’s Europa League match against Real Sociedad is scheduled for Thursday at Old Trafford.
Mount is getting close to being well again, but the match is apparently too soon for him.
Manuel Ugarte was also seen in training today, which gives Ruben Amorim even more faith that he will return.
The boss said that he “thinks” the midfield player will be fit to play Real Sociedad after he missed the previous two games due to a minor issue.
Even though the two made a much-needed comeback, Amorim is still dealing with an injury dilemma.
The fact that center-backs Harry Maguire and Leny Yoro were not photographed at Carrington today dealt a serious blow.
They join the sidelines alongside Kobbie Mainoo, Amad Diallo, Luke Shaw, Jonny Evans, Lisandro Martinez, and Altay Bayindir.
Chido Obi, a young striker for Manchester United, will also be absent since he is ineligible to play in the Europa League.
Amorim sees Mount as essential to his objectives and is “desperate” for him to avoid further injury issues.
Earlier this season, the manager made no secret of his feelings for the former Chelsea player: “Mason Mount I must admit that I adore that child.
“You can tell he really wants this by the look in his eyes. The most crucial element is this.
“This system is ideal for him because he played in it. Mason Mount should be very pleased because I have two places for him.
“He complements our aesthetic. Both on and off the field, he is an excellent player. The kind of character that the club and this team desire.”
Since moving to Manchester United from Chelsea for £55 million prior to the start of the previous season, Mount’s career has struggled to take off.
He has missed 49 games due to various injury issues and only has one goal and one assist.
