ROY KEANE held back from praising Thomas Tuchel despite the new England manager securing victories in his first two World Cup qualifying matches.
Tuchel made history by becoming the first England coach since Fabio Capello to win his opening two games, following a 3-0 triumph over Latvia on Monday night.

Reece James made a spectacular return, scoring a stunning 25-yard free-kick on his first international start in 18 months. England struggled initially against Latvia’s defensive setup until Harry Kane netted his 71st goal for the national team, followed by Eberechi Eze scoring his first.
Tuchel’s squad dominated the match with 27 shots compared to Latvia’s three, registering eight on target, and currently sits atop Group K with six points.
However, Keane, who served as a pundit for ITV, expressed his reservations, believing England should have sealed the win much earlier.
The 53-year-old commented on ITV: “If this was a school report, you’d give him a C+. There’s much more potential to be unleashed. On paper, these two games were quite simple.”
“It’s a promising start for the manager, but it was expected to secure two victories, especially with 27 shots tonight. There are plenty of areas that need improvement; the end product wasn’t particularly impressive, but at least the substitutes made a difference.”
Keane also criticized Jordan Pickford during halftime for a blunder that led to an embarrassing mix-up with Marc Guehi while the score was still 0-0.
Tuchel had begun his tenure with a 2-0 victory over Albania on Friday, making four changes to his lineup for the Latvia match.
