Andre Onana acknowledges that one of the main causes of Manchester United’s extreme difficulties is the strain of playing for the team.
A United team that has spent millions to assemble fared poorly against an equally dismal City in Sunday’s goalless draw at Old Trafford, dropping Ruben Amorim’s team to 13th position in the Premier League standings.

Onana, the goalkeeper for Cameroon, acknowledges that it was annoying that they were unable to perform better in front of their own supporters and attributes this to the pressure of playing for United.
“Yes,” he said, “you always feel a little pressure when you wear this jersey because the club is so big.” Even if this isn’t our greatest season, we really want to succeed. Playing for Manchester United naturally puts pressure on you, and you can get frustrated at times.
Sometimes performing in front of our supporters gives us even more motivation. Although the circumstances are not yet right, we want to win this for them and to create history. We must exercise patience. We strive to change this circumstance because we feel them.
Despite United creating several chances, one of the most cautious Manchester derbies in recent memory ended in a draw.
“Unfortunately, we didn’t score despite having a great game, being in control, having our moments, and having numerous opportunities,” Onana continued.
We had both more and better opportunities than they did. We didn’t score, which is unfortunate, but it’s a huge plus. Just a matter of time and everything will be OK if we continue to play the way we are and work the way we are.
It’s always a huge letdown to draw like that in front of our supporters. You always want to win when you play a game this important. We played well, and it will serve as more motivation for our upcoming game on Thursday, so I’m just optimistic.
We will win the game if we approach it with a winning mentality, remain focused, remain close to one another, and adhere to the game plan. It won’t be simple, of course, but I believe we are far superior than them.
