Following Chido Obi’s incredible goal for the Under-21 team, Manchester United supporters were inconsolable.
Last summer, the 17-year-old Obi transferred from Arsenal to the United academy.
.
And in his first season with the team, he has undoubtedly won over his new fans.
This season, the adolescent has already established himself in Ruben Amorim’s starting lineup.
Obi came off the bench against Fulham in the FA Cup and Tottenham, Everton, and Leicester in the Premier League.
On Monday, however, he returned to Premier League 2 play with the U21s.
He rushed toward the direction of the Forest goal, spinning past the defender.
Then, with a flurry of Forest defenders surrounding him, he swerved between two.
And Obi’s low strike into the bottom corner completed the incredible individual effort.
United supporters quickly flooded social media with comments expressing their admiration for the goal.
One said: “We were correct to take him away from Arsenal. Very talented.
Another commented: “That is extraordinarily good and completely absurd. U21 football or not.
An additional third said: “This is a ridiculous goal.”
“Simply too good for that level,” said a fourth.
Additionally, Obi was called the “best striker at the club” in a since-deleted tweet.
This season, United’s first-team forwards have had difficulty scoring goals.
In 2024β25, Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund each have three goals in the Premier League.
Even if Obi hasn’t scored yet, goals like the one he scored for the U21s indicate that it won’t be long before he does.
