Al-Nassr defeated Al-Riyadh in a thrilling comeback thanks to a spectacular volley from Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ronaldo’s team closed the distance on second-place Al-Hilal to a point in the Saudi Pro League on Saturday night with a 2-1 victory at home.
Faiz Selemani’s rebound gave the visitors the lead just before halftime, but Al-Nassr had to do it the hard way.
Sadio Mane’s low pass into the box in the 56th minute was followed by Ronaldo’s close-range goal to tie the score.
Eight minutes later, the 40-year-old scored a fantastic smashing volley into the top corner from the edge of the box.
Ronaldo dashed to the corner to execute his famous Siu celebration as Al-Awwal Park roared.
In 35 games in all competitions, it was the Portuguese forward’s 32nd goal for Al-Nassr this season.
“Ronaldo doing Ronaldo things – because of course he’s still scoring worldies in his l40s,” one fan wrote on social media in an attempt to show their appreciation for Ronaldo. The best stuff.
Another commented: “What a goal! No 40-year-old football player should be this deadly and still be able to hit a ball this hard, bro!” Ronaldo, the unscripted GOAT, has been an outlier throughout his life.
You will never see a cleaner volley in your puff than this one. A third person added, “40 years of age, complete joke.”
In the fourth minute of injury time, Ahmad Asiri caught Jhon Duran with a late tackle and was given a straight red, reducing Al-Riyadh to ten men.
With seven games left, Al-Nassr is still eight points behind leaders Al-ittihad after the comeback victory.
