Marcus Rashford’s performance in Tuesday night’s loss to Manchester City for Aston Villa was praised by Roy Keane.
Rashford put on one of his best performances for his loan club, who lost 2-1 in the end after conceding late in the game. He had multiple other chances, hit the post, and equalized for Unai Emery’s team from the penalty spot.
Just when it appeared that Rashford and company had gained a crucial point in their quest for a top five position, Matheus Nunes came up with the winner.
Man United legend Keane was also full of praise for the 27-year-old forward in the Sky Sports studio.
According to the Irishman, he was a threat tonight and had a great opportunity in the second half, but he is just as good as any other player when there is grass in front of him.
He is a terror, the defenders say. Stopping is nearly difficult.
Keane’s observation that Rashford can sprint into space is relevant because the Englishman frequently appears less potent while facing a low block.
However, he has regained his form away from Manchester United, who have had difficulty scoring goals lately.
He has been preferred over Ollie Watkins in recent games and has already contributed four goals and six assists in all competitions for Emery’s team.
Villa has the option to pay £40 million this summer to sign Rashford permanently, but it is believed that they have not yet decided whether to exercise the provision.
Despite having played one extra game, the team is now in seventh place, two points behind fifth.
“The goal difference is a problem, and Villa is running out of games,” Keane continued. Although they are well-organized, they forfeit late goals, which will be expensive.
“There will be a few twists, but keep moving forward and keep the city close by because you are in a potion to draw.”
“You have witnessed the city’s response; they are aware of how significant the final kick of the game was.”
