After reportedly splitting with Nike, Alejandro Garnacho, a winger for Manchester United, has been attracting more attention lately with his boots than his stepovers.
Garnacho has been seen wearing Skechers, Adidas, and most recently, Puma Ultra 5s at Man United’s most recent training session, in what has turned into the Premier League’s most unpredictable sponsorship story.
Although it’s usual practice to switch boots during talks, Garnacho’s on-field decisions have proven instructive.
During the warm-up against Newcastle, he wore Skechers Razor boots after putting on Adidas F50s from the “Celestial Victory” bundle against Wolves, which fueled rumors that Skechers might be his next stop.
Garnacho was once hailed as one of Nike’s emerging stars, but his recent slump in performance and flirtation with other companies may have put a dampener on their interest.
According to insiders, a move to Skechers may be in the horizon, maybe joining Isco in the Razor brand.
