On Sunday, Manchester United and Bournemouth shared the Premier League victory.
The Red Devils drew 1-1 at Vitality Stadium to snap a two-game league losing streak.
Over the course of ninety minutes, the team had more opportunities, but they lacked the attacking edge.
Against 10-man Bournemouth, Rasmus Hojlund equalized late in stoppage time.
A number of United’s players weren’t at their best. Despite starting from the left wing-back position, Patrick Dorgu’s performance left us feeling especially let down.
The Dane lost control to Adam Smith in the lead-up, which contributed to the Cherries’ first goal.
Over the course of 89 minutes, the 20-year-old lost possession 16 times, or one every six minutes.
Despite struggling in the last third, Dorgu managed to win eight duels and two tackles. He was uneasy with Bournemouth’s high press.
Despite having 27 passes and 64 touches against the Cherries, the former Lecce defender was unable to complete any of his five crosses.
Manchester Evening News gave Dorgu, who ended the game on the right wing, a rating of 4/10.
Luke Shaw’s late switch to left-back gave the Red Devils the appearance of a more formidable attacking force.
Shaw provided some excellent crosses into the Cherries box and made multiple overlapping runs.
The threat was eliminated by Bournemouth, but Shaw filled the void left by his injury for United.
Shaw ought to start in the left wing-back position in Thursday night’s first leg of the Europa League semi-final against Athletic Bilbao, in our opinion.
If Matthijs de Ligt and Ayden Heaven are unable to return, this could result in a back three of Leny Yoro, Harry Maguire, and Victor Lindelof.
Due to Diogo Dalot’s calf injury, Noussair Mazraoui should remain at right wing-back.
It would be interesting to observe if manager Ruben Amorim changes his defense.
Dorgu’s performance in the last several games has been subpar. It is recommended that he replace Shaw at San Mames after the hour.
