As he approaches breaking one of the Portuguese superstar’s numerous records, ALEJANDRO GARNACHO has vowed to stay at Manchester United and has the potential to break one of his hero Cristiano Ronaldo’s records. The Argentine dismissed comparisons to Ronaldo.
However, he is aware that he will probably have to put up with them for as long as he plays for United.
After all, in November 2022, Ronaldo set up the Argentine winger for the Red Devils’ opening goal.
A few weeks later, the Stretford End gave Garnacho his song right away when the six-time Ballon d’Or winner left Old Trafford for the second and last time.
In his heart, though, he most likely wouldn’t want it any other way.
After all, this is the man who, despite being Barcelona legend Lionel Messi’s international teammate, still chooses the Real Madrid icon as his all-time favorite player.
When they initially lined up together for United at Sheriff Tiraspol, Garnacho wrote on Instagram that it seemed like he was dreaming.
Because he was such a fan of Ronaldo, there were even rumors that the United winger repeatedly ignored Messi when his country won the Copa America last year. The winger later disputed these claims.
In addition, Garnacho was seen wearing some CR7-branded underwear during a cup match against Wigan last season and stole Ronaldo’s well-known celebration following his overhead kick against Everton.
Therefore, you can be certain that he is aware that he has the opportunity to defeat his idol before the season ends.
After scoring in Sunday’s loss to Brentford, Garnacho is now only one goal behind Ronaldo, who had 25 Premier League goal involvements for United before turning 21.
It should be within his reach since he has three Premier League games left until his historic birthday in July.
During the press conference, Garnacho looked at ease while displaying a tattoo of his son Enzo’s name on his hand.
“I’m not focused on the numbers,” he stated.
“Cristiano was a different football player and the games were different when he played here.
“I just try to win games and support the team.”
“All of the attackers are practicing incredibly hard, and I believe we are becoming better despite the lost opportunities and other things. We’ll make an effort to improve.
Garnacho appeared to be following Ronaldo out of the Old Trafford exit door at one point this season.
He struggled in the first few weeks of Portuguese manager Ruben Amorim’s tenure and was fired from the team for disciplinary issues before to the December Manchester derby.
Despite his efforts to win back the manager’s favor since the fall, he has failed to reach double figures in goals and assists this season.
“My first two months, November and December, were really tough for me, but I’m determined to keep working, to keep trying, and to show the manager and staff that I have to play,” Garnacho added.
With three Premier League games remaining until his historic birthday in July, he should be able to achieve it.
Garnacho appeared relaxed during the press conference, showing off a tattoo of his son Enzo’s name on his hand.
His words, “I’m not focused on the numbers,”
“When Cristiano played here, the games were different and he was a different football player.
“I just try to win games and support the team.”
“Despite the missed opportunities and other factors, I think we are improving because all of the attackers are practicing extremely hard. We will try to get better.
The Argentina international went on to say: “We are aware that we are not performing well in the Premier League, but the manager previously stated that we adhere to the rules, and tomorrow is a final for us.
“We will approach the game as though it were a 0-0 draw and aim to win the match rather than just the draw.
“We will be in the Champions League if we win the Europa League, and we can approach the upcoming season differently and with a better mindset.”
